Remember KML is a variety of XML
I think if you put URLs in it you have to url-encode them

When you paste it in the browser box, the browser is smart enough to
do it for you.
If I look in a debugger to see what response your map gets its still
getting errors.  I think what really messes it up is the space after
the VERSION parameter in your KML

I think that wms is one of the fragile ... but I have worked around those kinds of things in the past Google Earth cant get anything but red X's to show (it does the getcapabilities for you and formats the request... etc.)
