Yes. Use the {size:} option when you create the map.

It behaves the way it does because the map's div is hidden when the
map is created. The browser tells the API the map has zero size, and
then the browser uses that for all its calculations. Telling the API
the real size of the map allows it to get all its calculations correct
from the start.

I've been working in just such a tabbed page only today.
