Im interested in creating a static map with my own custom markers. To create the markers, I want to use overlaid-divs on a static map. I don't want use google's default static-map markers (those created by passing marker info in the url/query string).
To accomplish this, Im guessing I'd need a method to convert lat/lon values into map-image pixel coordinates, based on map bounds & zoom. Is this correct? Can someone please help me figure out how to do this conversion? Or, if there's a better way to go about this, can you please provide some advice on an alternate method? FYI, the reason for the static map (in this case...) is that I don't need or want the additional load/latency that would result from a full-blown dynamic map.
