I have Chrome. This line
map_width = ($(window).width() - $('#left_nav').width() + 13);
is being evaluated as
1024 - 1008 + 13 = 29
which is odd. I've no idea where the 1008 is coming from.
I can get it to work by explicitly setting the width of #left_nav:
<div id="left_nav" style="width:256px"> </div>
and I can get it to work if the div has some content:
<div id="left_nav">LEFT</div>
You may have found a bug in Chrome.
