You can throw your own custom event whenever you move it:
GEvent.addListener(marker, "IMovedThisMarker", function(where,why) {
alert("I moved the marker to: " +where+ ", because: " +why);
});
marker.setLatLng(point);
GEvent.trigger(marker,"IMovedThisMarker", point, "I wanted to");
