See http://maps.huge.info/pinpointaddress.htm

The Terms of Service require you to display geocoder results on a map,
anyway, so this is a way of complying. And by doing this, you're not
storing Google's results; you're storing your users' entries. That's
another TOS plus.

The Group is littered with people who have tried bulk geocoding and
come a-cropper. Do a search; and see http://econym.org.uk/gmap/geomulti.htm
