Hi, I've run into the same issue. I've created a component for Joomla 1.5 that extensively uses the google maps api and everything works fine.
However I just installed it on a new Joomla test site that has the admin section set to secure mode - so it uses https instead of http and I get the blank alert boxes. I've tried your suggestion of using v=2.155 but it makes no difference. Cheers.
