I know this question has already been answered, but I can't find it. http://www.econym.org.uk/gmap/range.htm To hide the rest of the world (why?!) you would need to create a polygon with a hole in it, or use custom tiles which are grey instead of showing map data. Marcelo has such a map at http://maps.forum.nu/gm_texas.html and Mike has another page about the process at http://www.econym.org.uk/gmap/custommap.htm. You will need to get the country outline from somewhere: the API doesn't provide it.
