Yes, it was spotted some time ago. You can circumvent by fixing the
API version at a version that works.

If you'd really like that to happen, you could add your 'star' to the
existing issue log
    http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=1312
It's not very popular yet, but at least you'll get notified of
progress.
