GMap *is* documented http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/upgrade.html
and "will continue to exist in Version 2 of the API and contains the
same documented interface as Version 1 of the API."

That means that it should be tested, along with all the documented v1
syntax. It also means that a deliberate change to remove that
compatibility mode should be flagged in the changelog.

I guess it wasn't intentional.
