Approx 15 years ago I was pretty good at creating websites. This was before GUI software when we just wrote up the code in notepad and it worked - but it was pretty basic stuff, nothing fancy. Then I got away from it. Now I'm back trying to create a personal site and I'm loving (and drowning in) the fancy stuff.
I am waaayyy out of my league. I'm also not very good about asking for help. I hate to admit defeat but I've been beating my head into the wall for a week now and I can't afford the time. I have gone through the tutorials and I have grabbed snippets of code to test but I just can't get it to work for me - probably syntax issues... Anyway, I want custom markers. I would love to have fancy ones but to keep things easy (I thought) for myself I just re-colored the goggle default lettered markers. However, nothing I have tried, no matter how easy it appeared, has allowed me to change the default marker. Here is the page I'm working on. Where you see the default marker on the map is my garden. The correct marker would be the 'R' marker for 'residential'. The long-term plan is to mark daylily gardens from all over the world which means a lot of markers. At this time I have divided them into 4 categories of 'commercial', 'display', 'public' and 'residential' with a different marker for each category and the ability to filter the markers. http://ezdaylilies.com/Map/Global%20Gardens.htm And here's my test bed of stuff that doesn't work for me... http://ezdaylilies.com/Map/test.htm I'm hoping to end up with something that I can edit easily. I do want to create a 'Pin My Garden' form on my website for people to fill out that will send me their info so that I can add their garden pin to my map.
