The tiles are the tiles. You could prepare overlays to cover the details, I suppose: you would need one per zoom level and to remove one and add another when the zoom level changes. And then make sure that you revisit the overlays when the tiles are updated as the labels may change place. Actually, since those from the Republic will only use "Derry" and the UK will use "Londonderry", Google seem to be keeping both camps onside. What is unusual is that generally only the name as specified within the country concerned is used -- Munich appears as Munchen. So in adding "Derry" Google is not following its own rules, presumably in order to keep people in the Republic happy.
