Umm, they do it all the time! GoogleBot takes a copy of many pages on
the web, and displays them in Search Results, and a myriad of other
uses.

Probably a majority of such pages are copyrighted - and Google has no
real right to the content.

It gets away it largely because its doing a service - making those
pages and information contained within easier to access for visitors.
- it's helping to organise the worlds information. Other search
engines perform a similar service.

As per the API terms you are by default granting a licence to Google
to use your content - apparently primarily intended for Google to be
able to Publicise your use of a Google API, but the data can also be
used in other ways...
