Hi everyone! First-time posting. I've been creating custom map designs for the past 15 years, and have just recently begun working with a few universities to overlay some of our map designs on top of Google Maps on their behalf. I found a great application that Boston University put together (http:// www.bu.edu/maps/), and decided that would be a great model to try and emulate and practice on for a friend/client of mine in Florida. 95% smooth sailing! The other 5%? Has me completely baffled...despite days of effort and hours surfing Google (and this forum) for answers.
Here's the site in progress: http://www.mapformation.com/temp/fiu2Dmaidiqueinteractive/ The first very obvious problem is the permanent "loading" status of the interface when trying to launch Google Maps on the page. When I preview the tool in Firefox/MSIE out of Dreamweaver, it works great! Live on the web though? Still loading... :-) Problem #2. Overlays. We have a great planimetric vector-style map of the FIU campus that I'd like to overlay on top of the Google tiles as an optimized .png file...but all my reading and efforts to incorporate GGroundOverlay into the site's code is not working. I assume I have "var" or "function" errors in my .js files...but help/advice from an expert would be outstanding. A third problem is less serious, but when I try to incorporate Street View into the tool, I can't get those little yellow "man" icons to appear on screen or when people try to activate the tool by dragging an icon to a point on a map. Again, probably something with Javascript or my calling of said JavaScript, but I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. Sorry for the LONG posting! I figured one long post was better than three shorter ones. Thanks for your time, and I hope to hear back from a few of you soon.
