Apart from the fact that you seem to want both sets of directions 
descriptions in the same directionsPanel, I'd suggest making a single 
call with no map parameter but with {getPolyline:true}. Then use 
.getPolyline() to get the polyline and GStep.getPolylineIndex() to 
determine which parts of the polyline correspond to each step. Copy 
sections of the polyline to a new polyline and display that at your 
leisure.
