You may be interested to know that it does indeed work fine with FF2.
Internet Explorer doesn't like percentage heights though, because it's
not clear what the 100% is 100% of. See 
http://www.econym.org.uk/gmap/basic19.htm

Strictly valid code will normally work fine in any current browser,
including IE6 and FF2. Occasionally a quirk like percentage heights
requires a specific coding practice.
