Really? You're the first person to have said that it doesn't. Perhaps you could add the meta tag into your demo page at the link you gave, and then someone with IE8 can take a look. There do appear to be two versions of X-UA-Compatible which Marcelo's search finds. Try both (not both at once, of course).
