Yes, it was an example not a ready-made solution for you.
Read on in the documentation to find out how to base searches on a lat/
long.

I thought you were looking for a source of "tourist-type landmarks" so
that you could find the closest.
The Local Search isn't especially good at that, as it also supplies
tourist-type businesses, but it's the best I could think of.
