It's not deprecated because it's never officially been a part of the
API, so it can't be withdrawn. The fact that it happens to work is
neither here nor there: it's a bonus, rather like a gaming Easter Egg.
If you choose to use an undocumented method, fine; but there is no
guarantee that it will continue to work the way you expect (although
it probably won't actually crash your map)
