Welcome to the Group.

Assuming "udig" is uDig http://udig.refractions.net/gallery/ then
there a number of answers.

* You almost certainly can't embed API maps, both from a technical
perspective [API maps are Javascript, not Java] and a legal
perspective [it's likely to be against the API Terms of Service,
although desktop apps are allowed now]
* You may be able to embed maps from maps.google.com if uDig allows
use of URLs. Click the "Link" link above-right of a maps.google.com
map and see if one of the alternatives works.
* If you're interested in using Google's map imagery within a uDig
map, forget it. That's completely against the Terms of Service.
* A better place to research is the uDig wiki and mailing lists: see
http://udig.refractions.net/developers/

If I've got completely the wrong end of the stick, you'll need to be a
bit more explicit in your question.
