It is linked from our articles page since it uses the Maps API, so I can understand him posting it here.
The original post has been on my to-do list, and I haven't had time to try it out myself yet. I last tested that code about a year ago, so it is entirely possible that it needs some changes for the new Zend framework. I can probably take a look in a week or so. In the meantime, you could try posting in the spreadsheets API group (maybe it's a common upgrade error) or debugging it yourself (it's an open source framework). You might also look into using the Maps data API, since we now offer that.
