I'm not very clued on GWT, but according to -
http://code.google.com/p/gwt-google-apis/wiki/MapsGettingStarted
which I'll have to guess is what we're talking about, that line is to
be put into a gwt.xml file as first suggested.
That's to say, it's not an ordinary <script> ...</script> HTML tag.
I doubt you'd be the first to experience a problem if improper tag
closure were really the cause. Perhaps there was an extra line break
or something?
Anyways, if you believe the doc is wrong, best to report to the gwt-
google-apis group
