Hi,

I want to use google-maps generated image (with static map API) in a
scientific publication. Namely, I plan to show geo-disperision of
peers on a world map.

The problem is that the zoom level I would like to achieve is
somewhere between 1 and 2. zoom=1 generates a map that spans too big
region and zoom=2 is always loosing some peers.
My question is: is it allowed to generate a map with zoom=1, magnify
some parts of it (to remove the area I don't want to have), and paste
it onto original image? Google logo would not be changed at all during
the process (it wouldn't be magnified) but only some parts of the
original would be visible.

And another question: do I have to credit google for the maps in any
other way than leaving the logo on the image?

Thanks,
 Maciek Wojciechowski
