I'm not sure that it will, but worth trying. Wild guess at fill algorithm - I bet it does something like break the poly to be filled into chunks if and when it crosses the dateline. This would allow simple "left of here or right of here" calculations for the bulk fill work without worrying about the dateline maths, upping efficiency. How to test and break into chunks? Easy, start from some point on the perimeter and follow round until the dateline intersects/enters, then follow the perimeter around until you find the next intersect/ exit ... This will break down if the poly covers the pole, there's only one intersect (well an odd number really).
