Note that it's more efficient to bundle your destinations in groups of
12, and request a route that goes back and forth:
 X,A,X,B,X,C,X,D,X,E,X,F,X,G,X,H,X,I,X,J,X,K,X,L
When the result comes back, read the distances from the odd numbered
GSteps. This allows you to obtain 12 distances with each GDirections
request.

If you don't really care about the difference between to "to" distance
on the "from" distance, you could request a route like
 X,A,B,X,C,D,X,E,F,X,G,H,X,I,J,X,K,L,X,M,N,X,O,P,X
and the GSteps will contain 16 such distances, 8 forward and 8 backward.
