I have what I hope to be a very simple question. I want to display a
specific set of directions utilizing the GDirections object. There
are a few way points that should work much like how Google Maps lets
you drag points on a route.

The key is that the way points shouldn't be steps in the directions.
You can accomplish this on Google Maps by using the via parameter.
See this example:

Is there a way so that this direction string:

from: 39.0043780963,-77.186422348 to: 39.0020435982,-77.1808433533 to:
39.0119146643,-77.1601366997 to: 39.0668806243,-77.1616601944 to:
39.0845546382,-77.1362328529 to: 39.0862035428,-77.1389579773

Can be displayed by the GDirections object as directions with only one
start and one end point?
