No nothing has changed (for the better).

Postcodes (if they work at all) basically map to sector postcodes.
That is they ignore the last two letters.

I've personally found better results doing it manually, as sometimes a
full postcode is geocoded somewhere in Germany. Using a sector
postcode directly is more reliable.

//replace full uk postcodes by the sector version
address = address.replace(/\b([A-Z]{1,2})([0-9]{1,2}[A-Z]?)
*([0-9]?)([A-Z]{0,2})\b/i,'$1$2 $3');

but overall I recommend you recommend to your users dont use postcodes
in your map.


(or pay RM/OS for a licence to the real data)
