That's right. *That* was the response to the sarcastic "This was exactly answering my question". The *other* link actually provided some search results, but it doesn't now. It looks like the search mechanism is broken again. I'm not entirely sure why Google don't use their own rather good search engine within the Groups: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=+static+map+find+corner+zoom+site%3Agroups.google.com%2Fgroup%2Fgoogle-maps-api I think those results are ordered roughly by date; you won't need the first two (as presented today) anyway.
