Hi Barry, I can understand Google using different databases for maps and the API (e.g., for commercial reasons) and then maybe not give as much details (like street names) from the API.
What I cannot understand is why the Israel map is completely devoid of any data. Even Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem and Gaza do not appear on the map from the API. For the life of me I cannot see the commercial advantages of not showing any cities whatsoever for a certain country, especially when the only country Google does it for is Israel! If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say the reason is political ? Bye, Ron.
