There's more than one way to go about it.  There isn't an "easy" way.

One way is to reverse geocode a number of steps along your line, and
see what city each lies in, to build up your list.  You will have to
pick the size of the step to take; too big and you may miss places,
too small and it will take too long.  Beware the speed limits on
geocoding requests.

Another way is to keep your own dataset of polygons representing the
cities you might be interested in.  Then you can test your line to see
if it intersects any polygons.  That isn't as easy as it sounds to
write code for.
