Marcelo has a good point. My Q has nothing directly to do with the maps API. On the other hand, I'm working on a project that combines php, javascript and the maps API. I plan to recode the javascript according to the standards Pamela produced. And as long as I'm doing that, I might as well recode the php also.
Pamela, yes since posting I've seen some php standards 'in the wild'. I'm going to compare those to your thoughts on javascript and decide how to proceed.
