request.status is not documented. Since GXmlHttp is implemented by calling various different browser specific methods, it might possibly be presented in some browsers. Even if that is the case in the browser environment that you're using, don't confuse request.status with the <Status> <code>200</code> that you're hoping to receive back from the service.
