Subject: PHP for saving user added data on multiple markers

Hi Everyone,
I have worked through a number of tutorials and have a reasonable
looking map with a fair amount of what I want on it. I am however
missing the crucial element and I just dont seem to be able to get it
right at all....I think I've reached the limit of my time and ability
so I am calling on the expertise within this forum.
The concept:
A map that participants can drag markers on to from a sidestart bar,
to show where certain values or activities occur.
The link:
A final copy of the map itself is here:http://
www.marinevaluesmapping.comyr.com/map_pen_2.html
I have removed the need to login etc so that any interested parties
can view and help before the project goes "live" (if I can ever nail
the bit between the map and thedatabase!).
The help required:
As you can see, the markers should be draggable from the side bar onto
the map where they can be clicked and an additional description/
comment made. When all mapping is done the "done mapping" button can
be pressed, the data saved, and the participant moves on to a survey
page. I have disabled the survey at this stage.
I really am struggling to get the PHP right that will enable the
coordinates of each marker, its type, and potential comments and place
them into a database. I have put the database together, with the
variables I wish to have, and am becoming increasingly frustrate that
I cant go the last step!
I also need the markers to be stored in the database but not returned
to the map...i.e. every person that uses the map must start with a
blank map.
Any advice/assistance/"pointing and laughing" at that you can offer
would be greatly appreciated!....
The script that I have been trying to adapt is:
http://code.google.com/apis/maps/articles/phpsqlinfo.html
But I think that my incompetence is overcomed my enthusiasm
Many thanks for your attention
Sean
