What's happening is that your map is initially displayed at zoom level 5, but your myTopo map only supports zoom levels 9 to 15. So switching to the myTopo map type causes the map to zoom in by 4 levels.
If you zoom in 4 times from the initial position, all the markers just happen to be outside the viewport.
