I'm looking for an internal event that tells me whether geoxml was even able to load the file at all. If there are no matches in the DB, my PHP KML generator will not return anything.
Maybe this is more simple than I've been thinking. If ".gpolygons" is supported, then it might just be a matter of checking where or not that is empty once ".progress" is zero. I'll play with this and see.
