I'm developing a solution for a wireless internet provider that gets a
lat/long point for a customer's home and then checks if it is within a
coverage area.

The coverage areas are defined as polygons on one of my maps - there
are a great number of them and they are very irregular in shape.

Is there a way to pass the point to the API and have it perform a
"point in polygon" search against the polygons in my map on the server
side? This would eliminate the need to send all the polygon data to
the client's browser.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
