Once you have the right key, it won't change. If you don't get the right key, it won't work. If you have two keys in your page, you will get a message for the wrong one and a map produced by the right one. Unfortunately there's not much more to say without a link to your page. It would also help if you told us which URL you entered into Google's registration page in order to generate the key.
