Only a small number of countries support intersection geocoding. The
organisations that collect the geocoding data tend to only collect
intersection data in countries where there's a custom of addressing by
intersection. If you try it with US streets that intersect then it will
usually work. If you try it with British streets it won't work because
people in Britain never address by intersection.
E.g. This works
http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?q=1600+Amphitheatre+Parkway,+Mountain+Vie
w,+CA+%26+Bill+Graham+Parkway
But this one in the UK ignores the &[second street] and just geocodes
the first street.
http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?q=Devonshire%20Road+Blackpool+%26+Talbot+
Road
+%26+ is the correct thing to use in a URL. If you use & then it gets
parsed as the start of the next parameter rather than part of the ?q
search string. You could use +intersection+, +and+ or +corner+ as long
as you're sure that your &hl is English.
