A common approach would be to provide the data-enterer with a tool
something like this
http://econym.org.uk/gmap/example_didyoumean1.htm
that allows them to select exactly what they want.  Easily modified to
add more user-entered data using forms etc.

You then store the lat/long with the other data, and never have to
look it up again.
