Given the maps API call is: http://maps.google.com/maps?gwt=1&file=api&v=2&key=ABQIAAAARrCK38aboqQKDotehUjrPhTb-vLQlFZmc2N8bgWI8YDPp5FEVBQ-MFjXfKfAvdbsbp3pa0q7fQNDDA
There may be a similarity with the issue I raised: http://groups.google.com/group/google-maps-api/browse_thread/thread/1c29b64623baa908/2ea274ba4131551c#2ea274ba4131551c It's working for me now, however the location directed by the API call for the map js was at one stage giving me a 404. It is possible that that 404 with GWT was giving you the error popup.
