I wouldn't recommend jumping on the v3 bandwagon yet. The documentation is not 100% yet, resulting in a lot of trial and error. Questions raised on the v3 group don't seem to get answered. Also, there is no versioning system yet, so you can't go back to an older version of the API if they introduce a regression.
I hope v3 eventually becomes solid, but right now I'm starting to regret spending time on it.
