Hi all, firstly, thanks to the various luminaries such as Mike Williams and others who have provided such help for API newbies like myself.
I've been working with the API to draw journeys using various travel modes as a series of snapped polylines on a map. I now need to try and detect when any part of a journey enters / leaves one of several streets. I haven't found any simple way of a line on an overlay interacting with coords on the map in a way that would help. The only thing that seems potentially useful is using the 'point in a polygon', although it seems this would be a lot of work (both for me and for the browser) - draw the streets as narrow polygons; traverse the polyline and at every 10metres or so, check if the point coord has entered one of the polygons (streets). Does anyone have experience as to other ways to attempt this, or whether my theoretical solution above is worth pursuing or would be too intensive for the browser? The current app is running on an internal server, but not necessary to view for this question, I think. Thanks in advance for any suggestions cheers ...stu -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
