Hi! I live in Portland, OR and wrote a couple of web apps that use Google Maps.
The first is a web app that uses the geolocation API to figure out where you are, queries TriMet's stop database to suggest nearby public transit stops, and then queries TriMet to show you where the stop is on a map, and the last known location of the next few buses/trains that are heading towards the stop. Those of you not in Portland won't get any useful results for the geolocator function, so I'll provide a few examples. Here's the main entrance to the geolocator: http://b.djwong.org/ Here's a sample of geolocation finding a list of nearby stops and approaching buses: http://djwong.org/.obj/bus.php?ll=45.52281,-122.66162 Finally, here's the map version of that: http://djwong.org/.obj/busmap.php?ll=45.52281,-122.66162&s=705,704,5901,2167,5892,805,5902,8829,5941,2174 ----- The second is a (draft) of a map of all city-provided bicycle parking in Portland: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http:%2F%2Fdjwong.org%2Fprograms%2Fbike_parking%2Fbike_parking.kml There's a lot of placemarks in that KML, so I really appreciate that GMaps renders KML server-side. :) It's really cool how easy it is to combine all sorts of web data to make mashups with Google Maps! Thanks for making such an awesome product! --D -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
