Wow thanks J! It's working OK in 2.s. Switching to v2.s was certainly the easiest suggestion. Double-click zoom doesn't work in Opera, but the polygons show up and work fairly well. It's a bit slow, but almost certainly faster than IE 6.
Thanks for the reply, Marcelo. I wasn't sure if you realized the circle page works fine in Opera. Also, I don't think Google said the API is not compatible with Opera, they just don't list it as a supported browser. That reduces their workload. And since they don't support it, they probably haven't done the research.
