Define all the properties of your custom icon. Here... var DefaultIcon = new GIcon(G_DEFAULT_ICON); DefaultIcon.image = "cropped/mapiconblack.png"; DefaultIcon.iconSize = new GSize(42,44); you base your icon on Google's default tear-drop-shape icon, and only change the image and the size. There are lots more properties, including a transparent image (which handles the click/mouseover in one browser) and an image map (which handles events in other browsers). In your case, those are still the default size and shape.
