I looked at the link you sent me and it is behaving the same way. If you type some text into the google bar and then do anything with the left mouse button including highlighting text or moving the cursor all of the text is cleared from the text field. I have checked this on 3 machines (All running Windows XP) using Chrome, Firefox, and IE7.
On your system this doesn't happen? Could you let me know what OS and browser you are using?
