Andrew's suggestion again -
document.getElementById("advert").innerHTML="<img ...>"
Where you locate the <div id='advert'> is up to you ; outside the map
is fine. You might also choose to hide it until you need it. This is
DHTML coding, not maps-specific.
If you want the click listener to do different things depending on
which marker was clicked, that's fine, it's all do-able.
