For a demo of a scaled (radius given in metres) filled transparent circle done with simple HTML only (a single bullet type character). Tested in Firefox, MSIE, Safari and Chrome - Opera failing for some reason. I would be interested to know if the circle comes out the correct size (use the distance display) on platforms other than Win XP, particularly Mac and iPhone. On Windows XP, Safari seems the fastest at rendering very large fonts, Firefox gives up first then Chrome.
