Presumably that one works. Surely you would do better to ask them how
they did it? Members here have no access to their server-side code,
and you can see the client source just as well as anyone else.
Actually I can't see how that page "refines the searches down to one
location", it doesn't for me.

In any case, what does have "an alphabetical search tool" have to do
with the Maps API?
