You're not specifying "travelMode" correctly -- look carefully at your options. You also seem to have missed the proviso about walking routes in the documentation. You *must* give the GDirections object a div to put the textual directions in, because the API needs to display a warning about pavements. Once the travelMode option is set correctly, it will fail. You may want to investigate your first Javascript block.
